Margaret Winifred Tarrant originally trained as an art teacher at Clapham School of Art in England. On qualifying she never went into teaching but, with her father Percy's encouragement started on a career of illustration. She was very successful and from her first commission in 1910 she had regular work until her death 50 years later... mostly with children and childrens subjects such as fairy tales, cute looking children and fairies.
