The Belgium photographer and photography teacher Lukas Roels had his first exposition at Galerie Bender in Rotterdam in 1979. Many expositions in Belgium, The Netherlands, Poland and Australia followed. In 2009 he debuted at Galerie 't Fotokabinet with the controversial exposition "Angels of Time". His themes are nudity, melancholia, dreams, youth and time. In a period of moralism and censorship by politicians and law enforcers, it is refreshing to see that Roels continues to do what many great painters, sculptors and photographers did before: showing expressions, feeling and beauty of the (semi)nudes. |
